How to prep your hair

HOW TO ARRIVE PREPARED FOR YOUR BABEYHAIR APPOINTMENT

The right preparation helps us give you the best possible result and avoid time extensions or unnecessary delays.
⬇️ Below you’ll find the exact guidelines for your booked service.
Please read all general points and additionally the section that applies to your service.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL SERVICES

For your appointment to run smoothly, your hair should be:

  • clean
  • fully detangled from roots to ends
(using a wide-tooth comb or fingers, not just brushed on the surface)
  • air-dried or diffused
  • worn open or at most loosely tied back

Please avoid:

  • tight hairstyles, tight braids, twists, sleek styles
  • heavy product build-up

Important:
It is normal for fine or tightly curled hair to reconnect again before the appointment. Still, we ask you to thoroughly detangle your hair from roots to ends, using a comb or fingers, not just superficially.

Heavy build-up or matting can:

  • extend the appointment
  • affect the final result
  • lead to a time extension or preparation charge

PREPARATION BY SERVICE

NEW CLIENT EXPERIENCE (STANDARD & VIP)

For new clients, preparation is especially important.
Recommendation: the evening before or on the same day

  1. Clean and detangled:
    • Wash hair with a clarifying or sulphate shampoo (e.g. Balea Deep Cleansing)
    • Fully saturate the hair with water, section it and cleanse thoroughly (especially at the roots and nape), repeat until it foams
    • Use conditioner and detangle the hair from roots to ends with a wide-tooth comb, rinse thoroughly
  2. Product-free zone
    • Do not use any styling products
    • Especially no Cantu, SheaMoisture or oils/butters
  3. Completely naturally dried
    • Air-dry or diffuse
    • If preparing the evening before: bonnet or loose bun
    • Wear hair open or loosely tied (no tight braids, twists or tight buns)

Why?
During your first appointment, we work with your hair in its natural state. This allows us to realistically assess your structure, needs and full curl potential, and to build your cut and coaching in a way that truly fits you.

Incorrect preparation may result in a time extension or service adjustment.

BABEYCURLS BASIC REFRESH

A pure refresh cut, no washday.
Hair should be styled the way you usually wear it in everyday life (e.g. Day 2 or Day 3).

Suitable styles:

  • Wash & Go with styling products such as gel or foam
  • Twist Outs
  • Leave-in only if this is your preferred everyday style

Not suitable:

  • naked curls
  • dirty or heavily tangled hair

Note:
The cut is based on your current styling. If you style your hair differently at home, the result may vary accordingly. Incorrect preparation, especially naked curls, may lead to a time extension or service adjustment.

BABEYCURLS WASH & GO

You do not need to arrive freshly washed.

What matters:

  • regular detangling at home
  • no strong knots or matting
  • no heavy build-up from very long periods without washing or care

Strong knots or build-up can extend the appointment and may result in a time extension.

BABEYCURLS DELUXE RITUAL

For the Deluxe Ritual, thorough preparation is essential so we can use the time optimally for care, cut and styling.

Please arrive with hair that is:

  • freshly washed (the evening before or the same day)
  • carefully detangled from roots to ends (using a comb or fingers, not just superficially)
  • free from extremely heavy product build-up
  • air-dried or diffused
  • worn open or loosely styled (no tight braids, twists or tight buns)

Incorrect preparation may result in a time extension or service adjustment.

LITTLE BABEY EXPERIENCE

For children, preparation is especially important so the appointment can be calm and stress-free.
Recommendation: the evening before or on the same day

  • Wash hair with a clarifying shampoo (e.g. Balea)
  • Fully saturate the hair with water, section it and cleanse thoroughly (especially at the roots and nape), repeat until it foams
  • Use conditioner and detangle the hair from roots to ends with a wide-tooth comb, rinse thoroughly
  • Do not use any styling products
  • Air-dry or diffuse
  • If preparing the evening before: bonnet or loose bun
  • Hair worn open or loosely styled (no tight braids, twists or tight buns)

Additionally:

  • Parents will be guided beforehand in a prep call
  • Detangling should be done at home so the child is not overwhelmed in the salon

Incorrect preparation may result in a time extension or service adjustment.
